Typhoon weekend

Last weekend was so busy with celebrating our anniversary and then Ciro's birthday on Monday and in complete contrast we have been pretty housebound this weekend. With Typhoon Krosa hitting us on Saturday and it is still raining at the moment although the storm has left the island.
Tuesday we went to the hospital and saw our little girl..she apparently weighs around 496g at the moment according to the body measurements etc..and all is well, the scan was good enough to see her little face and she had her hand next to her head 'waving'. (Although the still pic was not so good)We have finalised her name: Maya Indigo Maureen Correia.
Dylan is still really enjoying school, when we drop him off he is so happy to see his teacher!! She says he now shares nicely with the others and takes part in the activities that they do..he especially likes dancing!He has been feeling very housebound...goes to the door puts his shoes on and says bye... luckily our new area is very convenient so we walked across to Mac D for coffee and to appease the constant 'bye...go!!'

Unfortunately Ciro's birthday was a Monday...still had some time for cake and Dylan was trying very hard to help his Daddy blow out the candles!!

Just an amusing snap from the other day. In Taiwan you notice when people stop at traffic lights they try to find a bit of shade to wait under when on their scooters...even if it is just the shade of the traffic light pole...(yes i have been here too long and have been known to do this too) still this whole group on the pavement under the tree amused me. I have also seen cars hovering under the shade of a sign instead of moving forward...

Moon Festival

This weekend was the moon festival/harvest festival long weekend...unfortunately i managed to get a terrible cold just before the weekend so we have had a pretty quiet but relaxing weekend..still can't seem to manage to shake the cold..and being pregnant my energy levels are non existent. Back to work tomorrow ..luckily my early night. All else going well...Dylan is doing really great at his daycare/school, he really likes the teacher and is happy when we drop him off. Baby is doing well, growing (as is mum) and moving about..favourite food at the moment...Korean Hot pot!! and unfortunately..sweet things. Funny that when i was pregnant with Dylan all i wanted was sour stuff, now it is all sweet!! We have a doc's appointment next week so will have further baby updates then.

Okay so we are in our new house...have been for a week but it has been crazy...unpacking.. Dylan starting at his little school etc..so finally a few minutes to blog. We LOVE the new place and area and Dylan's school is great...We started out on Monday with him in tears when we left him and on Tuesday and Wednesday heart-breaking screams...but Sandy called me after she dropped Ivo (ten minutes later) and he had settled.. Thursday he frowned a lot but no tears... and Friday he leaned forward for the principal to take him. his communication book shows he is eating, playing and happy...His mood at home is also great...so all in all a great move!!
The other big news which i suddenly realised i had not mentioned...we are having a baby girl! Doc is absolutely certain that Dylan is getting a sister..will update soon ...with pics.

The new apartment...before we moved in. The guys who left, left a lot of stuff that they could not sell..so we inherited a whole bunch of stuff.

Leaving for his first day of 'kindergarden' He goes from about 1pm-5:30pm.

Dylan and Daddy in the pool...Dylan loves swimming...unfortunately the pool will close soon...as soon as autumn is here. Still next summer it will be great. The caps by the way are compulsory in all pools in Taiwan..they won't let you in without them.

Playing at Carrefour

Met Sandy and her boys at the play space at Carrefour the other day..the boys played really well together.They were moving at the speed of light though and whenever a camera got close , they were off...so the pics are not too good... Our holiday is rapidly coming to an end...lots of packing still to be done this week..although we are making some headway!

Chinese valentines day

Sunday was Chinese valentine's day. We went out for lunch and in the spirit of the day Dylan spent the time 'flirting' with the waitresses....

Taipei trip

We headed up to Taipei for a few days last week. Did the usual things we like to do there..visited the kids rec center , astronomical museum and this time we also got to the science museum..of course no trip to Taipei is complete without a visit to the bookstore!! We also managed to catch up with Peggy and Vincent. Our hotel was right across the street from a public pool...(unfortunately no pics...battery died on me and i am yet to replace the spare after it died in the washing machine)Dylan loved swimming, he even kept his cap on his head for most of the time (all pools in taiwan require the wearing of swimming caps at all times)Nice relaxing few days...got home just before the typhoon...which did not make much of an appearance in Taichung...rest of the island got hit pretty hard though.

Catching up

A bit of catching up to do. Pics are from 8/8 which is father's day in Taiwan (ba is 8 and baba is dad so therefore 8/8 day is father's day) Ivo, Burl and Sandy came round to play last week and the boys had a great time, played together nicely. Burl of course watched on with a smile.

A lot has happened the last while. We are going to move apartments. We found a daycare/school that Dylan can attend for afternoons only (difficult to find a place that agrees to that arangement) and they also take babies and have a trained nurse working there so...we are moving closer to the school and will drive to work (as opposed to walk round the corner). Found a nice apartment which is in a good area with parks nearby and the building has a pool (allthough as is the way here it will probably only be open a few months of the year, when it is really hot) till that is a bonus. So here we go...moving again...thankfully we still have one more week of so we can use it to get the packing on the go and then 1st September is D-Day.
Typhoon busy hitting the island. So far nothing in Taichung..aparently this afternoon, nevertheless we are planning a housebound day! More about the Taipei trip later....
